Muhammad Ali is looking bad... :(

Is it Parkinson's that he has??  Whatever it is, it's taking a toll on him.  Here's a recent shot of him...   I miss the good ole days when he was known simply as 'Cassius Clay'...

Yep it's Parkinson's. Sad to see someone who was in such great shape go down like that. I reember him shooting an arrow or something to open an olympic games a few years ago and he could hardly hold the bow

I don't think that qualifies him as a bad American.  In Ali's case, I believe the refusal was actually based on his principles.  Here's why:

Becase he HANS'T reaped what he 'sowed'.  He's lived a VERY fulfilling spiritual life in luxury since his retirement.  He's totally committed to Islam.  It was real, and he kind of got fawked because he was such a loudmouth, like, say, ScottFJ40 is a loudmouth.

He's honored and revered everywhere he goes.  His wife attends to his every need.  He spends long hours every day praying.  He's a complete man, a little thing like Parkinson's can't touch that.

I guess Scott will just have to wait until he goes to hell.

WOW Scott - because he changed his religion and name, you have that much hate for him?  Jeebus man, please explain - I'd love to get quot;the rest    of the story.quot;

Yes he was a conscientious objector to the war in Vietnam.  He refused to sign his draft card.  He stood up for what he believed in.  I don't agree with it, and I don't think he should have been given any extra priveldges because of his status as a professional athlete.  He wasn't.

But the quot;reaping what he has sownquot; comment - what is that man?  Come on - maybe you know something I don't.  I'm always looking to learn.

-Keith

BTW - His merits as the greatest heavyweight professional fighter of all time have been completely excluded by me to this point.  The recent Discovery Channel/AOL poll and resulting television show just shows you what kind of people have AOL.  There is a thread on this already though.

I thought his name was quot;Lew Alcindorquot;

Am I wrong???  I really distinctly remember reading it that way in a few NBA encyclopedia articles.

Hmmmm....

quot; I am the greatest draft dodgerquot;What is your great achievement, Mr. Moby?

He for sure wasn't the greatest draft dodger.  He was on TV.  They (draft board) knew where he was.  He lost his livelihood for a few years.  He was stripped of his championship blets that he EARNED, by whipping racial bigots that wanted no less than to beat the black hell out of a nigger.

He is still the greatest heavyweight boxer that has ever lived. Period.

^^^^^ Moby, unplug, and go read a book.

ACtually Ali made a lot of racist comments about Joe Frasier.  Back in the day division in the 'black' world between dark skins and light skins was very real and often violent.  One one hand you got Ali, light skinned and handsome.  On the other, Joe Frasier, the stereotypical African with big nose, lips, heavy brow.  Ali took advantage of that and called him, basically, an ape and all kinds of other mean shit.

So yeah Ali liked trying to beat up white guys, well really White Man (in fact he respected Quarry and didnt' really have it in for most of the whie fighters he encountered), but when it came down to it Ali fought blacks mostly, and when faced with his greatest rival Ali met his lowest personal moment IMO.

Hmmmm....

It could have been spelled quot;Lewquot;. That was a long time ago.

He not only hated white men (he believed African-Americans who married whites should be killed), but also looked down upon black men like Joe Frazier, an uncomplicated but hugely courageous warrior. Ali repeatedly used the racial slur quot;gorillaquot; on the jet-black Frazier, who had earlier given Ali money when he fell on hard times.

Interesting thing is, white men kept him out of jail.

I know a racist when i hear one, and Ali is and always was a racist who hated white people. I am white so I choose to hate him back.

If you guys want to go to your library and check out some books and then comment, feel free.

If you don't agree with my opinion, good on you. If you want to be spoon fed bullshit from the media your whole life, have at it as well.

I still watch his fights when they are on espn classic, he was an amazing fighter, and fun to watch.
I am somewhat of a boxing fan, and enjoy watching great fighters.

I also enjoyed(past tense) Tyson fights, and that guy is one of the biggest fucking idiots ever.

I did personally see Hasim Rahman fall of the decklid of a convertible during his celebratory Championship Parade downtown Baltimore. He's funny.

I would beat Muhammad Ali's ass.  Lets go right now!

Pull his dick out of your mouth for a minute. Are you his mom or something?
Did he dodge the draft?
Did he say he was the greatest?
So I said he was the greates draft dodger, a little play on words.
I read a book everyday, I just choose not to read about mouthy boxers. FYI
