Streaming from XP to PS3?? firewall, settings, message, change

I have managed to get Media Player 11 to stream media, ie video to my ps3.  However, this is with my firewall off.  If i turn it on, i just get an error message on the ps3. I cannot seem to find the settings i need to change in Norton 360 to allow my pc to talk to the ps3.  

Media player help says to open 4 ports, but again, i cannot find how to open ports in Norton 360..

Can anyone help me?                    
      

Someone has said i dont need my firewall turned on as i use a router, and the router protects me... is that the case?                    
      

Openn360.....Tasks and settings.....change advanced settings......Firewall...Firewall program rules...find your program, click Custom to Allow or Block.

Depends on whether or not the router has a built in firewall.
Not all routers do.
